This week, Rett and Taylor don’t talk about politics. Really. Topics range from the impending eclipse, preparation for their Japan trip, pets, and most importantly, gamedev. They dissect how they might be able to make their game Castle Master Faster Blaster a mobile game using Unity and some of the challenges, benefits, and draw backs.
Rett and Taylor discuss Diogenes, the famous cynic philosopher, and Zeno who strongly influenced Stoic philosophy. They plug their upcoming (yet already released) podcast with twitch streamer rockzom, which you should go listen to right now. They dissect some points given in Coffee with Butterscotch episode Scream Tubes and Bacon Babies, trying to find the motivation to always be learning gamedev. Then they contemplate game design through some flaws in Divinity: Original Sin. Finally, they discuss the film Okja which will turn you all into Vegans!
Rett went cave diving in Bend, and Taylor’s apartment almost caught on fire. They talk about being happy with what you have and the allure of what you don’t. The discussion includes success as an indie dev, being lied to growing up, managing finances, and monetizing your skills.
They broach the topic of philosophy and the Philosophize This! podcast along with Taylor feeling down about game dev and getting a nice pick up. Also, Mentor Mondays was actually a thing this week.
